What the Heck is Your Metabolism, Really?

I can guess that you’ve probably heard about the metabolism in one or more of the following ways:
“She’s so skinny! She must have a high metabolism.”
“Well, as you get older your metabolism just slows down.”
“He can eat whatever he wants and it doesn’t affect him. I wish I had his metabolism.”
How many did I guess correctly? 😉
The truth is — it’s absolutely possible to be super skinny and still have a sluggish metabolism. And getting older does not have to be a one-way ticket to a slower metabolism.
If we want to get technical, your metabolism is the summation of every physical and chemical process that occurs within oneself for the maintenance of life.
It’s how efficiently your body is able to convert a fuel source into usable energy to energize all cellular functions.
Fuel (food) –> Usable Energy (ATP) –> All Cellular Functions
And when I say ALL cellular functions, I mean A L L …
Hormones, digestion, reaction time, thyroid health, nervous system, neurotransmitter function, physical level of energy, menstrual cycle, fertility, body temperature, how you deal with stress, wound healing time, ability to recover after exercise, etc, etc, etc.

So it stands to reason that true health is equivalent to a thriving metabolism.
And a thriving metabolism requires FUEL.
We need gas in the car. Logs on the fire.
(Do you know if you’re getting enough fuel?)
This is why I include my Fuel Your Mvmnt™ training in every membership to my site.
It’s the place to start. The foundation. So, let’s get moving!
